Fiber Arts/Mixed Media

Be Creative!

So, I am working on the paperwork to write a book on my Quilted Vessels, and I would like to hear what you think.
Would you buy a book that had a big gallery section of these vessels? Would you buy a book that taught you how to make them?
Would you be interested in the book if it also contained lessons on how to handpaint your own fabric?
How interested would you be to have the beading lessons included?
Some of the vessels use "reconfigured trash", or recycled treasures as a part of their ornamentation, would you be interested in seeing how to do that?
Thank you for your input!

I think my answer would be yes to all of these! Your quilted vessels are wonderful - truly inspirational!

WOW! They look spectacular. Bring on the book please and include all of the above you mentioned. It will be a good seller Im sure and something that does not date either so you can make them for years to come and all the kids get one and the relatives and friends and the grandkids lol. All the greatest success with your book. smiles Michelle

WOW, love the white one!! I'd buy with an extensive gallery *and* instructions for creating, some tips on painting but little beading. I think most of us here are experienced enough to figure out a few things on our own, but your market should definitely be the less seasoned--if i'd found a book like this a few years back, i'd have snapped it up in an instant! You may create a few truly incredible artists!
Best of luck!!!

Hi
Go for it.
I have just had my book proposal accepted by Batsford and they are going to publish it.
It was the second submission - the first one I submitted was rejected at the last hurdle but as I had done more pieces and expanded the book substantially I submitted it again and this time it was accepted.
Put in everything - technique and projects are very much required so it doesn't matter that some of us out here can do some of the techniques there are plenty that can't. Finding a niche is the other requirement and vessels could find that niche. Your vessels are fabulous and often books are bought just for the pictures of the creations. I rarely read the books I buy - don't need to but others do - but it doesn't stop me buying them to browse if the work in them is beautiful.
Hope this helps
Good luck.
Shirley

Your vessels are beautiful, I'm not a quilter but would still buy the book. Good luck.

Your Vessels are beautiful! I do not recall seeing any books on the subject which showcases this level of professionalism! I think a book containing a large gallery section of beautiful colored photographed vessels such as the one's you have shown here, plus clear, easy to follow instructions for a few different shaped varieties, would do very well! Best of luck, I think you have a winner! Victoria

I buy a lot of books. I like to read them but mostly I enjoy looking at the pictures and getting inspired by them. These vessels are fabulous. Will your book have photos of vessels by other artists too? I have seen a few other artists making wonderful fiber art vessels. Different from yours but still fascinating. I hope you get published.

I agree. I would be very interested in a book like this. I'd also like to see some abstract taller vessel (vase) shapes. The more I see vessels of all kinds turning up, the more I want to try them.

Yes, most certainly. I have already been to a textile workshop to make a vessel using fencing wire as the foundation for machine embroidery. Was fun but hard on the hands. Recycled 'trash' is most fashionable now, I bought a book for my textile art group on using recycled materials.
