Be Creative!

Hi everyone
I've been trying to read up and find out more about faces for art dolls - it seems as though there's molds where you can make clay faces - could anyone point me in the right direction to find these.
I live in Cape Town, South Africa - and believe me, we are starved of lots of 'art/craft' stuff in this country. I have all of one mold for a face!
When I look at some of your wonderful work show in the Art Doll Group I can see a variety of faces - and wondered how these were made.
Any help or advice would be most welcome.
Thanks

Hi there!

I was in Cape Town just a few months ago visiting my bf's family....what a gorgeous place. I"m from Canada. Anyways i don't know where you can buy molds.....i think you can find some online......here we have Michael's craftstores which most likely have molds. Why don't you create your own? You can find a doll at a cheap store - put some fimo/sculpey over the face, bake as per directions and then you can use that face as a mold? I've done that before and have created skulls, hearts etc.

here is a place online that sells them http://www.theenchantedgallery.com/artdolls.html

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Violette xo

Hi Violette
Thanks for the idea of making my own molds (now why didn't I think of that).
Glad you enjoyed the Cape - there's good and bad of course (like everywhere in the world) but we have the mountains, the sea - and of course the wine estates!
Regards
ann

You could try dollmakersjourney.com, clothdollconnection.com, and sistersanddaughters.com. They have tons of great doll patterns, and some face molds. Gay

There are doll face molds to use with Fimo or Sculpy clay. The only problem is that they are small, so you are limited. The only problem about putting the clay over a doll's face is that you have to do two steps. First step makes the mold, you bake it and then you put more clay inside that mold to make the actual face. Good luck!

Hi Ann,

There are very good mold makers in Muldersdrift, Gauteng SA, they advertise in Craftwise magazine. If you can't find their advert let me know and I'll look it up for you.
