I can't find much info on this subject, other than a weaver's PDf and that's not what i'm looking for. Any resources, links, tips?

try Pat Wilson AT EMU she has an article on line.
also you can do it with fiber etch, to etch out vegetable fibers and leave the protein intact.
did a whole series some years ago.

I'm an IDjit--what i thought was cloque, or rather what i "wanted" to be cloque was actually nuno felting! Same effect, less danger :}

so what you really want is nuno felt? cloque as you may know by now is another ball game.

answering before having coffeei wasso out of it i mixed up every thing :(
her name's pat williams at e mich and cloque is not devore.

you get cloque by combining 2 different yarns, vegetable and protein for ex. and then submitting the veg to shrinking using a lye solution. you can also get differential shrinkage weaving with crepe and loosely twisted yarns.
remember seersucker ?that's cloque effect.
