Have posted photos of my crafty bin made using junk mail fused with plastic bags. I also cut a flower out of fused plastic bags and added that. Useful and arty..you can never have too many bins!

Just posted my junk mail challenge to the Flickr group in the nick of time!!! WHEW!!! Since I live in a mountain cabin with no mailing address, I had to really scrounge around for mail for this project. Along with some mail and catalogs brought up by my hubby, I added a couple of old calendars and some large envelopes I swiped from his business samples ... his company makes envelopes and packaging materials. There is also a grocery bag and a couple of other paper items found floating around the studio. I made a two-needle coptic stitch journal to use as a glue book. This will hold all those fabulous artists' business cards and postcards that I can't bare to toss away. Also, anything torn out of magazines that inspires me. I added fabric strips to each signature to strengthen them. This also allows plenty of extra inside room to glue stuff. I couldn't figure out what to use for the cover of the book ... until I spied the pizza box from last night's supper. Bingo! Perfect! Only had to clean off a little cheese!!!

For the June Bird Challenge can we use any thing old, new, etc or does it need to be out of stuff we normally would throw away or recycle?

Hi there! all the details for the monthly challenge are on the front page of the site, but here's a recap:

Just so there's no confusion here's a recap of the "rules" for the June's Junk Bird Art Challenge: You must post a photo of the junk you used before you turned it into art along with the actual art you created in the flickr group set up for this challenge by midnight 6/30/09. Your mail art must be a piece created in the month of June 2009. Artwork created prior to June 2009 is not eligible. Doesn't matter where in the world you live, you can enter the challenge so international group members are encouraged to enter the challenge.

Have fun!

Would an old, worn sweater, gotten at either a yard sale, Salvation Army, or given to me by someone who knows my proclivities, qualify as junk?
