I find inspiration everywhere. I was recently in Florida and became fascinated by the patterns in the sand left when the tides were going out, clumps of seaweed and spindrift. I have found my digital camera and invaluable resource to help me remember.

This is the view out of my felting studio. I have a whole wall of glass that overlooks this majesty that is Alaska. It is both inspirational and distracting!

My studio is an amazing and inspirational space. Anyone that steps even one foot into my little Felt Alive studio feels the buzz of creativity in the air - there is always room for a friend or two to join me at my felting table - it's a gathering place for friends and family and the conversations alone are quite inspirational.

Inspiration is all around me, sometimes in the strangest places or things. I recently found an old Coldwater Creek catalog - their clothes are such beautiful colors and are so touchy-scrunchy - along with some prints they were selling by artist Cheri Blum, I was inspired....went outside, gathered leaves, got my fabric inks all around me - and set to work. A few hours later I have a wallhanging that makes my heart sing - well, not quilted yet.

I found took this picture in Hawaii last spring. It would be a great source of inspiration for Elements "water", a class taught online at QuiltUniversity.

I mostly get my inspiration in my surrounds. I let my dog out every day and this is the time where the inspiration comes. Because I try to let go all the worry's at home or in shop for half an hour.

I know exactly what you mean Charlotte.

I get inspired by everything and nothing. I know that sounds a little corny. I get inspired by other artists work. I get inspired by nature. Or a pictures in a magazine and I even get inspired by nothing... or when my life is quiet.
when my life schedule has no demands and I can just go paint or felt without the worries that I should be doing something for someone some where. Things just start coming out of my right brain then.... it is so nice. A wonderful place to be.
Tomorrow... we are going to swim with the dolphins... now that will be so over the top that it may take me months to process that into an art piece.

I find my inspiration comes almost by mistake - a funny, sad or touching tale by a close friend or a stranger - maybe something on the news - also poetry (I made one of my favourite quilts on the heels of a sad situation a friend found himself in - his tale made me think of Robert Frost's poem "The Hired Hand" - in the end, I named this partic. quilt for a line from this poem; "Home is a place you haven't to deserve") and also prose that could be poetry (ie. anything by Margaret Drabble) - plus, and above all, anything that gives me great joy: family, friends, animals, books, children's art, antiques, handcrafts, paintings, sculpture, music, trees, flowers, mountains, the sea, the sky, memories, etc.,etc.

I am inspired by colour in the landscape, I take lots and lot of photos when the sun is low in the sky. Some of my photos are very blurry and completely out of focus, but so is my felt.
