my latest Fibre Report column in A Needle Pulling Thread Spring 2009 is on the newsstand. this is a good magazine and getting better all the time, yes it has patterns and DIY stuff, its the range of articles that make it interesting (mine with standing) http://www.aneedlepullingthread.com/

Hi, I am in Edmonton and new to this. I have signed up for a course in Felted Landscapes and Fabric Painting, and that will be my starting point. I love all the different things I have seen on the site. There is so much talent here. I am looking forward to learning from everyone. I have taken a basic quilting course, and found that I like to applique, and do beadwork. Any ideas or suggestions for newbies would be greatly appreciated..Thanks Lynne

I JUST GOT BACK from Montreal, I went to a friend from Japan's opening at the MCCT, Mitsuko Akutsu does jacquard weaving, I was about 5 Concordia exhibitions with fibre in them, it is all on my fQaroundtown blog. at the bottom of the post is a heads up for a new book Textile Arts of the World:Canada from UK publisher Telos, they do amazing books.

that's a quick update and excuse for not joining last week, Hello

May i make a suggestion? Rather than just commenting here, start a discussion--for Canadian suppliers, shows whatever--easier to find info than having to scroll through all comments. Just click on "Start discussion" at the top!

Just thought I would mention a Canadian source for things like Misty Fuse, Lutrador, Tyvek, Timtex, metal shim, and various dyes, etc... http://www.stitchesquiltshop.com I think they are on Salt Spring Island (I've never ordered from them so can't say what their service is like).

I`d like to invite all Canadian Fibre Artists to consider entering the World of Threads, Common Thread Exhibition. The deadline is March 31st. They have only a few entries so far. Go to www.worldofthreadsfestival.com
for details. The prizes are big! Also, do not forget the Postcard Challenge for the Grand National Show this year, deadline is April 1st. www.grandnationalquiltshow.com
I am experimenting with Lutradur these days and I bought some from Shop Pellon.com. The shipping was only $6 and the lutradur was about $7 a yard and it came within a week!! Amazing! Q.A. took about a month. Hope this helpful!

I noticed, Arlee, that you spelled fiber the Canadian way, eh?
Fibre it is!
