About Me:
I am a fibre artist residing in northern Arizona. I've been beading wearable and decorative art for twenty years. My specialty is beaded women's clothing made entirely of beads and thread, which creates a "glass chainmail" type of fabric. I've recently taught myself to knit, and am currently working on several new designs that incorporate knitting with beading. I find the needlearts to be calming in a chaotic world, and I wouldn't want to live if I couldn't create!

Halloween '07

It's 3:00 AM and my mind is a restless spider, spinning and weaving a surface design but refusing to lead me into the depths of sleep. Isn't it enough to spend my days tangled in thread? My husband laughs and says I look like a spider gone mad, sitting there surrounded by miles of unwoven fibers, but this is where I feel at home, maddening as these threads can be. What drives me to spend hours at a time weaving thread and beads or yarn into some semblance of order? Was I an arachnid in another l… Continue

Hi Bonnie,
Thank you for the warm welcome! I have been in exploratory mode for about two years and absolutely love the many ways I am discovering for making fiber art. Digital networks like this one have provided so much information and inspiration. Such a thing was simply not possible just a short while ago.
I can see why you might like knitting so much after looking at your exquisite beaded tops. I think the bead must map quite nicely to the knitted stitch for you. I would love to see someone wearing one of your beaded tops in person. I am sure they move in a most wonderful way on the human body.
Bye for now,
Juanita

Hi Bonnie. Thanks for looking at my work. I love working with textiles but it's so hard to explain to people what I do. They just look at me with a blank stare.

HI
Welcome to the group - there's lots of fantastic art to look at.
Have looked at your work - lovely - looks very time consuming putting all those beads together so beautifully.
I buy lots of beads to add to my 'hoard' and regularly drool over them. Some I have had for over 30 years waiting for that special piece to come along!!! Even though I have such a huge collection of them I still can't resist buying more -'to drool over'. I use them on every piece that will take them.
Enjoy browsing through FAMM.
Cheers
Shirley
