This group is for anyone that would like to join me and others in playing with a new art technique once a month. I will be using different art books and magazines to try out new ways to play with my art materials and stretch my imagination. :)

- I am a fibre artist and a retired art teacher. I am experimenting more with mixed media and I enjoy adding beading and embroidery to my art pieces. i love taking workshops with all kinds of artists. I am a member of the Oakville Stitchery Guild and I help plan our program. I also belong to Fibre Art Studios, a collective group of fibre artists dedicated to promoting fibre art.

But mostly I was inspired by your east coast pieces as I am going on a family vacation with my family to Quebec city, PEI, Nova Scotia, etc. and I am going to enjoy using my new camera to capture inspiration as well!

- How long is your work going to be at the Greenwood Quiltery? I will definately need to visit the shop and your exhibit...It's not too far from St. Jacobs. I want to step into doing fibre art full time upon retiring from teaching as well and I am impressed with your work.

- Hi Donna - It's already...Boxing Day and I'm only just getting around to writing to you!! Eeek!! Dec. is such a crazy month, isn't it!! I've noticed/delighted in your love of African & Indian arts/crafts - your joy in both is so evident in your wonderful pces.!! Like you, I'm MAD for all creations African - fabric, masks, jewellery, etc.,etc. I also adore fabrics and dolls and jewellery, etc.,etc. from India, but have yet to attempt a "salute"/India-inspired pce. Maybe in 2009?? Meanwhile, I've fiiiiinally (!!) finished I kept changing my mind and changing my mind and...!! - that story!!) a quilt to which I want to add 9 of my small masks. You asked how I came to make all of my wee masks (some 50+ now!!) and all I can say is that I LOVE masks - have the beginnings of a collection (approx. 30) from various parts of the world, etc.,etc. and thought, maybe a year ago, that maaaaaaaybe, just maaaaaaaybe IIII could make a mask or two myself!! Once I got started, I became virtually addicted to making them!! I've put most on cards, but now, as I've already said, I plan to use them on a quilt.
As for 'my Etsy shop' - ohhhhh, Donna - IIIIII don't have one!! I'm sooooooo new at computers and websites and things, I don't even know how to set up a 'shop' online!! My son, aka my best computer-teacher, is home for a wee while over the holidays and he's quite anxious to help me set up an Etsy shop thing. Soooo?? Maaaaaaaaaybe I'll have one in 2009??
Meanwhile, many, maaaaaany thanks for your encouraging comments that turn up to Make My Day every now and then and ...ta da! Happy New Year!! Cheers! Charlotte
