I like your use of wrapping. Did you use felt in this piece? The colors are also interesting. They look very nature inspired -- something that continues to be an interest of mine. Lovely work.
Love it! Are the pages inside embellished as well? Is the crinkly outside made from tissue?

- Hi Heather. Diane and I missed you on Friday. We both wished you had been able to join us for our city date - although to be quite honest I did have fears that we might drown. It POURED rain. In fact, we set records for rainfall on that date. On the train coming home, one part looked like we were going through the raised centre of a lake. Worth it though. Good talk, great art - what could be better.

Kath Danswan said… - Hi Heather, Just a tip that might help. I was taught that when free stitching in straight stitch the secret of smooth stitching is to keep your machine motor running as fast as it will go and to move the fabric slowly. it works so go for it.Practice on a piece of fabric first.

- Hi Heather, It sounds as if you are using an automatic stitch control on your machine as I am not sure what FMQ is. However vermicelli stitch is just a wiggly stitch which never crosses over itself. I usually liken it to contour lines on a map as they never touch. I do it free hand just drawing it with the machine needle. Hope that explains it if not get back to me and I will try to make it easier. Kath

- Hi Heather, I would love to see some photos of your bowls. I took inspiration from a display at the Chelsea flower show last year and decided to try out different shapes.I am off to spread the word in LA in April. I aim to get the world 'bowling'. It always amazes me that people really do get inspired by my work especially when the bowls are so easy to do. At least I think they are but they do usually cover a two day workshop.
