Oh, Carol, sorry, west wales is perhaps not quite right .... I think of Swansea as south wales. I am near Barmouth - right in the middle at the coast. (Straight line to the sea from Birmingham) about 2 hours away from anywhere (including supermarket…

Artist's Block?

This summer has been very strange for me - as I have had a wonderful time - but .... I have not been in the studio for 6 months - life without art, well textile art. (Although I have been very creative in our garden).
The thing about having such a long break - is that I almost have to get back to basics again. It is hard to pick up where I left off - I am no longer in the same place creatively, or technically. I couldn't even remember how to thread the sewing machine yesterday - mental block or… Continue

Pay It Forward

I am sure that some of you have seen the "Pay it Forward" exchange. I was lucky enough to spot it on Vivien's blog and so I left her a comment. I will be getting a beautiful piece of art from Vivian and this means I have to "Pay it Forward" on my blog. Which I am doing on my OTHER blog - Karens Studio.

If you are interested in this lovely way of exchanging art and passing on the joy - please… Continue

New Sewing Machine

I would like to thank Shirley, Sharon, Sandra and Margaret;- who all took the time and trouble to let me know what sewing machines they use. I really appreciated it.

I have now got my new machine and I had a good idea of what I was going to get and I went for it in the end.

It is a pfaff 2058 and I have posted a bit more about it on my blog

http://karens-gardenstudio.blogspot.com/

I expect it will take me… Continue

Which sewing Machine Do you Use?

Hi everyone,
First post here - and I thought this would be a good place to ask the question that is buzzing around my head - Those of you that use a sewing machine in your fibre art -

What machine do you use for free motion embroidery? (make and model)

My pfaff of 20 years needs replacing. I know what I am probably going to get - but just thought I would see what others are using and how they like them for free machine embroidery
Warm Regards
Karen

thanks, Karen. It's hard to see the shop through unbiased eyes...a bit like your children, they're meant to be perfect...so feedback is always welcome...

Hi Karen, Thanks. This piece was finished quite quickly for the Christmas show. I have to make some pieces, and then want to make some bigger cards. Green men are in my head, having made that necklace!
