- I've been quilting since 1999 and in addition to traditional quilting, I enjoy experimenting with other fibre arts. I have recently began exploring fabric portraits. My lastest 'toy' is my embellisher which is opening up a whole new relm of possibilites for my future textile explorations.

Of course, now I have turned my attention to another project in the interum as I cannot just do one thing. The creative spirit is a fickle beast,ain't it.

- Linda, your work is beautiful. I particulary like your portrait! I haven't done a thread painted portrait yet. The one you see here is photo printed, heavily beaded and embellished and quilted. It's in the collection of Menopause the Musical.

Thanks for leaving a comment... the leaves are made of felt, and fabric and machine embroidery. They were part of an Art in the Garden exhibition at Urchfont. which is a big manor house in Wiltshire. They were in the garden all last summer, through the most awful weather, and survived unscathed. I thought that was quite amazing. They were great fun to make. I think I made about 20 or so in the end. They were featured in the last brochure for the Manor, which made me very proud.

Darlene Bayley said… - Thanks for your great comments on all my pieces! It seems as if when I am inspired, things go great. I love doing portraits too and would like to do more. I should post a few of my daughter I did a few years ago. I love to combine painting/inking and threadplay and feel very at home with a paintbrush in my hand. (My mom oil-painted for ever and I grew up watching her!)
