- I am a writer, small press publisher, and fiber artist. I am involved in animal welfare, and a portion of the proceeds of my fiber sales goes to Mid Atlantic Pug Rescue. I live in a magical little cottage with 5 parrots, 5 dogs -- a lab-doby mix from the Humane Society and 4 pugs from pug rescue, as well as 4 beta fish! I took the name Maitri legally in 2005 to remind myself, always, to live the Buddhist teaching of maitri, having loving kindness and compassion for all and making it the root of all of my work, and all that I do in life. It is now the 29th of December, 2008, and after a long hard year I am going to be getting back to my fiber art. My mother is in endstage cancer, but what I've found is that when I DO fiber art, it is so healing, it lifts my spirits no end.
I want to thank you all so much for your notes, your kindness, and your patience with me as I have been absent due to illness, injury and my mother's cancer. But 2009 is a new year and it's time to move onwards and upwards. I wish you all the very best!
