I'm up to my final project for the textiles subject. I am taking my inspiration from a dry creek bed. So far I have made up a sketchbook page with possible colours and a technique sample (using white only). I need to do the composition now - so if anyone has any pointers I would really appreciate some help. I am envisioning some clumps of rocks at various depths of emergance from the river bank.

Well I finished the studio study sketch - I have some pretty funky hands going on there, but overall I am pleased with the piece. Practice has to start somewhere. The sketch is a bit of a montage of things in my space.

I am thinking of using a close up photo, and since my sewing machine is my favourite tool I took this photo:

I will work on some sketches and see what it looks like.

I am doing a textiles unit through Open Uni this study period. We have an exercise to do where we use stitch to produce a small detailed study of an aspect of our studio/living space. I have started by taking some photos of my studio.

In the last few years I have decided that I should listen more to my creative side. I have always made things, for as long as I can remember.
