I recently purchased two sets of MOO cards. Succumbed the the hype and the blogs I'd come across that showed some beautiful presentations of artists work on the small MOO sized cards. Mine haven't arrived yet, but they did give me a FREE SHIPPING code to offer others and it is good until August 31, 2009.
I will be blogging my cards when I get back from a vacation in August, in the meantime... thought I'd share the code here:

Susan visited our Spartanburg, SC quilt guild last night and shared her work with us as well as her journey to fiber arts. She is not only an extremely talented artist but an engaging, down-to-earth, approachable person. And we found out we took undergrad art courses together at Winthrop College in the 80's. Not only did I enjoy her presentation, but she has re-energized me and I'm determined not to let work, children, or life in general keep me from creating art! I hope to post new works soon.…

New to blogging and just finding my way around the arts and crafts world, I am trying to figure out where I fit in. Maybe here is the place? My pieces are definatley mixed media. I start with fabric, but from there I embellish with whatever gives me the look I am going for. In fact, searching for just the right material to get an effect I want is what I like best about the process. I love to do fantasy art because there are no rules, but as you can see from my pictures, that is not all I do. Loo…

One of my new quilts in progress is Ezekiel's Dream. The eagle's head is finished except the beak. I am finished thread painting the lion. Still in need to thread paint the man and ox. I am making individual feathers for each of the four wings, two will rise behind the heads and two to cover the body. The feathers are a bit tedious to make.

Exploring Corel Painter 10
According to Wikki, "Corel Painter is a raster-based
digital art application created to simulate as accurately as possible the appearance and behavior of traditional media associated with drawing, painting, and printmaking."
I like this thought: "It is intended to be used in real-time by professional digital artists as a functional creative tool."
Corel has released a new version in the Painter series, version 11, on February 24, 2009

It's SOOoooo good to be back on line...at last!!!! I have a new laptop, so I can finally come in and browse around and I can't tell you how frustrating it has been that my computer has been down since October, but I'm sure lots of you have been there.
I've never had a laptop before and this one won't run some of my old imaging programs, so even though I can add pictures, I have no way to edit or resize them, so they will be huge until I can get used to this thing.
Anyway, here's a pic of a sam…

Its almost that time again! Gift yourself with a bag of blackeyed peas (remember when they costed 69 cents) and a big pot. And on 12/31/08 or 1/1/09, don't just eat a spoonful, eat a whole bowl! And may good fortune bless you into and throughout another year!
Blessings,
Marian

Just a teaser here -- any Texans in sight, please visit our "Unframed" fiber arts exhibit in New Braunfels at the New Braunfels Art League gallery downtown through August 30. Seven fiber artists have presented a gallery full of innovative and interesting work -- art dolls, art cloth, art quilts, wearable art and more. Also, I have a small solo show this month, through Sept. 6, at the Rockport Center for the Arts -- mermaids, beach dreamers, altered jean jackets and more. I'd love to know if anyo…

Does anyone use the shibori (Japanese tie dye method)? I am going to be taking a workshop on it and how to combine it with felting.
I am excited because I will be taking my art development to the next level.
My aim is to move towards creating work that is done entirely in felt and silk using a combination of shibori, wet felting, and needle felting. Once I move into that I will leave the current method I am working in which involves a combined pieces in oil painting and needle felting.
My subjec…

I found some little, blank books at our local teacher's store. They were 6" x 6", 16 pages and just 85 cents each. Bound with two staples in the middle, they were not fancy, but perfect for sharing art journaling with newbies. I gave a class at my church on simple bookbinding,…

Well, I will try again, that is to write the blog I wrote last night, before aol cut me off and I lost the lot.Grrr.
Sorry, well, here goes.
I have added photos of some work I have been doing the last week or so. These are of some Celtic brooches. Some have small landscapes within the frame of the brooch, some are more decorative but still using Celtic themes. I have been studying Celtic motifs for some time now. They hold so much mystery for me and never fail to fascinate. I suppose I have alw…
