Cyber Fyber news

My second round Exquisite Corpse Textiles Project piece made it home in time to be mounted and sent off again to the Cyber Fyber show in Columbia, South Carolina. The show opens tomorrow and i'm hoping a friend who will be attending, will be allowed to take photos "in situ". It is such an honour to have been invited by Susan Lenz to submit two pieces of my work. "Shifting Gea… Continue

Exquisite Corpse Unshrouding Soon--and second round proposed!

We are SO close to the "unshrouding" of the first round!!! The last deadline is/was Aug 25, but we have some pieces that have only one square left to finish before they go back to the "owner". The group is amazing (18 players)and i can't wait to see the finished works! Counting myself, i have 5 people interested in playing in a second round for the Exquisite Corpse project. If you are interested, please let me know. If you *do* commit, you MUST follow the rules, and be aware of postal costs, de… Continue

correcting an oooooops

The ATCs i did for the Cybre Fybre trade suddenly looked wrong to me---and like lightening hitting, i realized that for more than a year, i have been making my ATCs THE WRONG SIZE!!!! They're too small!!!! If you would like to trade any anyways, please see my main blog with this entry The ones that are smaller are the photo of three in one shot :} Continue

Round Robin Proposal

I'd like to try an excercise called the Exquisite Corpse, but in textiles and textile techniques. And no the subject is not as gruesome or squishy as it sounds :}

gift mags and patterns

I was pretty disappointed by the holiday issue of Quilting Arts. There *are* some nice things in it, and i'll definitely be trying Sue B's teapot (my mother is a "Tea Granny" so it'll be perfect for her :}), and i like Dale Rollerson's Fete garland and Maggie Grey's little lace bags, but on the whole, it seemed that the only reason some of the articles were in there was because of the "name" attached. This is my opinion so it ya don't like it.....
Taunton, also the publishers of Threa… Continue

mixing paper and textiles

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, i love this mix :} Today i added the stitching and beading to my paper casting piece. I realized though when i finished the first stage of it (it's yet to be formed into a figure/vessel) that the "attitude" the paper had initially was gone, but think i've figured out a way for the next attempt to preserve the feeling and look.

Submission work

I'm posting a few shots of WIP that i will be submitting to major calls, but can't show a lot of details as that "negates" the rules!

Is there a way to easily see if posts have been made to the groups section without hitting each one? The "specialty" groups are as important here as the forum, though seem less visited.

For the Birds :}

I interpreted a CPS article by Kelli Perkins-----these birds are so much fun to make! Mine are slightly different--when did i ever follow the guidelines????---and unstuffed, more of an ornament for the tree or as a patch for applique to a bag. I have plans to make a little bit smaller ones, and they will be stuffed.
The photos are in my "album".

I've set myself a de-cluttering goal in what i Do. I have written a goal list for the next year, with the end result hopefully being Making a Living from Art. I have new sketchbooks that are dedicated to competition/show work, an area set up just for writing, which i just LOVE to do, a list of techniques and topics, and a Budget. I've even emailed myself " Did you succeed?????" with a timed email . Each month is broken down into bread and butter, finishing old that appl… Continue
