About Me:
Textile artist, pastel painter. Hmmm, more? I like the term textile artist because it covers such a wide range of textile activity, embroidery both machine and hand, dyeing, manipulating fabric, painting stuff, bobbin lace, tatting, knitting, dressmaking, it is all there or has been there. Now I seem to be combining paper, embroidery and paint and coming up with some fun stuff.

I'm thrilled

I went to see a local artist who has just opened an Art Gallery in a huge park near here. He had some textiles on display and a lot of shelf space, so I asked if he wanted more textiles. He accepted 4 of my paper art pieces and one fabric postcard which I had framed. I'm so pleased I plucked up courage to ask in the first place.

Poppy Bag

I have been working away on the poppy bag, have beaded the centre and added some beaded 'leaves' today with lots of mixed green beads. Then noticed a dirty mark on the silk - eeek! Decided to embroider over it in a leafy motif, and thank goodness it has vanished. Have done so much work already that did not want to junk this bag.

Poppy Bag WIP

I started making this bag last night, well actually I spent all day yesterday sorting out fabrics and working out possibilities. I decided on this bag with a poppy embroidered on the front. The petals are made from layers of sheers to give the transparent petals that are so poppy-like. I now have to embroider and bead the centre…

Hi Maureen, thanks for the invite. I was looking on your blog and really like the tatting. It's something I don't see much of and have always thought interesting from being a small person.
