About Me:
Welcome! This is my cat Thea (Theodora), or an approximation of her in my first fiber collage of several summers ago. Since I discovered Susan Sorrell's work and online classes at joggles.com, I have been totally addicted to doing this type of work. (Thanks Susan!) I all but stopped doing paper-based mixed-media collage and have been doing my version of fiber collage ever since - small hand-sewn art quilts using commercial or hand-painted/stamped fabric, floss, fibers, handspun yarn, metal embellishments, beads, etc. You can see more of my work and more about my creative processes on my blog http://theinneri.blogspot.com/. Thanks for looking!

Well, speaking for my twin sister (also art-y) and I, at least 2 people watched it! I was very drawn to your work.

Thanks Ilene. I really wonder if anyone watched that interview (and it kind of liooked like I never took a breath!) I had fun doing it and its great to have my "process' all summed up on a video.

Hello! Yes, I do live in Alaska..nearly all my life except for 3 years of hs in NV. I live 25 miles from Delta Junction (interior AK)...my blog is www.wildgameranchinginalaska.blogspot.com and I am so excited about fiber art! You are welcome to our place anytime you come North again. I'm not so remote as some, as we have a road to our place from the "lower 48" states...we're actually off the Alcan Highway (AKCanada)..just 6 miles and we have a asphalt road...6 miles back from the highway. Thank you for writing...it means alot! buffalogal

What color and jazz! Love it, I'm just beginning......do you know how I could get my bison hair/fur created from the raw form into a spun yarn to use on my fabric art? buffalogal

Thanks Ilene - much appreciated. There's lots more to see on my blog and web site. Must find time to browse this site fully to see what everyone is doing - such a talented lot - it's lovely to be part of it.

Yes, Thea is very large too and we are trying to gently and slowly decrease her dry food. You know, I've always heard that you can put a bowl of dry food out for cats and they will take what they want when they are hungry - I think Thea would eat the whole bowl at once. Her need for food is clearly emotional - and as you say, for comfort. I think when she was out on the street (and 'skin and bones', I've heard) she never knew when she would get food. So now when she gets it she snarfs it up! But she's wonderful and I love her dearly of course!

Oh, on the subject of food, I have noticed that when the cats arrive they are starving, and I think some eat for comfort as my cats are quite large! Bitty is at probably 15-19 pounds. I keep dry food out for them, and don't have a lot of arguements over food.

Ilene, I do believe they suffer from PTSD, and have different problems, just like people. We have had Shadow for about 4 years and he loves to cuddle, a very new thing, within the past 6 months! But, Phred, Shadow, Bitty do not like to be picked up what so ever, they want attention but don't want to be picked up. Basically we just let them come to us on their terms and they seem to work some of it out themselves. Sissy is very standoffish with the cats but loves mom and dad. She is getting more friendly with our one dog, which is a big step. Conner joined just about 6 months ago and is the most affectionate cat I have ever seen. We believe he was just tossed out because he has a very busy personality! Hope this helps some.
