I have a split personality - either that or I am a bit like Worzel Gummidge with different heads.
I love the "art" side of what I do, it fulfills something within me. Taking a seed of an idea and developing it to best express the full grown thought. However, I also enjoy the more commercial side of what I do, not the buying and selling side of keeping shop, but the evangelical spreading the word about Friendly Plastic. I have worked with it for about 18 years now and I still love it, I still find more to do with it, and I still develop new techniques. Demonstrating this enthusiasm through formal demonstrations at shows, teaching and giving talks, as well as writing books and filming DVDs keeps me on my toes.
Then there is the experimental, try-out-new-materials side to me which explores chicken wire and fibreglass and large sculpture. My difficulty is that the commercial side often takes up more time than the rest, and I end up frustrated with my lack of creative expression. Networking and blogging help me to stay in touch with other creative folk and keep the inspiration flowing.

Fabulous work! I'm going to dig out my FP strips and see what I can do with them. Thanks for the inspiration.

Hi Liz
Many thanks for you kind comments - much appreciated.
This fibre cyber space is brilliant. It is wonderful to meet so many like minded people and I have made some fabulous friends and we keep in regular contact sharing our creative work through our blogs.
CTDG members are thin on the ground up here in the north east so starting a group wasn't viable. FAMM and the friends I've made has ended that isolation.
I did steward for the group at the NEC last year and met up with lots of members. Will be attending the August workshops too.
Nice to hear from you.
Cheers
Shirley
