Sheesh....just what I need...another blog. I can barely keep up with the one I already have. (address is in my profile) But I don't like the empty look on my page, so here ya go...a picture of one of my latest quilts. I'm still working on quilting it. Well...I better be honest here...actually I'm working on un-quilting it. I'm in the process of removing some ill-placed quilting stitches that I put in before I had decided how I really wanted to quilt this quilt. I have now made that decision, (i'm pretty sure!) but I have to remove the wrong before I can make the right.
No name for this quilt yet....at this point I'm still just calling it my Blue Indigo Batik Quilt. I saw these batiks at the old Hancocks fabric store (that has since shut down) and they called to me like none others I've ever seen there. I bought a ton of them and probably still have enough to make one or two more quilts. I was surprised by the good quality of the fabrics (chain stores are not known for the good quality of fabrics they carry) and the fact that I had seen none others like them at any other fabric store or quilt shop I'd been to...and I've been to alot of quilt shops. I brought them home and put them in a drawer with the rest of the fabrics that have called to me through out the years, and they sat in that drawer for nearly a year. And while the rest of those fabrics have pretty much stopped calling to me, these indigo batiks never did shut up. I probably could have done something really cool and overly funky with them, but I was in the middle of another project and I just didn't have time to sit down and design anything. I just wanted to shut them up....so this is the quilt I made. And yes...the left over fabrics are still calling me...but not as loudly.
